A child having a detailed eye examination with an optometrist

ADVANCED MYOPIA CARE · BRISBANE

Don’t just correct their sight.
Help protect their future vision.

Myopia can progress as children grow. We measure it carefully, explain what is changing, and build an evidence-based plan to help slow it down.

4 evidence-based treatment pathways Advanced corneal mapping & monitoring Individual plans, not one-size-fits-all

MYOPIA IS MORE THAN BLUR Stronger prescriptions are linked with greater lifetime risks to eye health. Earlier action gives us more opportunity to influence progression.

The right treatment starts with understanding your child’s eyes.

There is no single “best” myopia treatment for every child. Age, prescription, eye shape, rate of change, lifestyle and readiness for contact lenses all matter.

At Advanced Optometry, we can draw from the full range of current evidence-based options—including custom orthokeratology for complex prescriptions—so the recommendation is guided by your child, not by a limited product range.

01

Measure

A detailed eye examination with baseline measurements to understand current vision and risk.

02

Match

We compare appropriate options and make a recommendation your family can realistically follow.

03

Monitor

Regular reviews help us assess progression, check eye health and adjust the plan when needed.

More options.
A more considered plan.

We explain the benefits, practicalities and limitations of each suitable pathway, then decide together.

02

DIMS spectacle lenses

Specially designed spectacle lenses provide clear central vision with a surrounding treatment zone intended to slow eye growth.

A familiar, non-contact-lens option for everyday wear.

03

Soft myopia control contact lenses

Daily disposable designs including MiSight® 1 day and ACUVUE® Abiliti™ 1-Day can correct vision and help slow progression during daytime wear.

Often suited to active children ready for contact lenses.

04

Low-dose atropine

Prescription eye drops used at night can help slow myopia progression. They may be considered alone or alongside an optical treatment where appropriate.

Useful when contact lenses are not suitable, or as combination therapy.

All treatments require individual clinical assessment. Results and suitability vary; no treatment can guarantee that progression will stop.

Could your child benefit from a myopia assessment?

Clear answers for parents.

How do I know if my child’s myopia is progressing?+

Changes in spectacle prescription provide one clue. A detailed assessment and consistent follow-up measurements help build a clearer picture of the rate and pattern of change.

At what age should myopia control start?+

There is no single starting age. Earlier-onset myopia can have more years to progress, so it is worth assessing a child once short-sightedness appears or progression is suspected.

Can you treat astigmatism or higher prescriptions with OrthoK?+

Many children with astigmatism or more complex prescriptions can be considered for custom orthokeratology. Suitability depends on prescription, corneal shape and eye health, which we assess in detail.

Will myopia control stop the prescription changing completely?+

No method can promise to stop progression. The aim is to slow expected change, with response monitored over time and treatment adjusted when appropriate.
